MASSAGE DURING PREGNANCY

What Is Prenatal Massage?

Massage thoughtfully adapted for the physical changes and comfort needs of pregnancy.

Prenatal Massage modifies traditional massage techniques and positioning to create a comfortable, supportive experience during pregnancy.

As pregnancy progresses, areas such as the lower back, hips, shoulders and legs may carry additional muscular tension. Your Massage Therapist can focus on these areas while adapting the session to your comfort.

Pillows, bolsters and supportive positioning may be used so you can relax without remaining in an uncomfortable position.

Pressure is personalized throughout the appointment. Prenatal Massage should feel comfortable and supportive, and you are encouraged to communicate whenever you would like your positioning or pressure adjusted.

ADAPTED FOR COMFORT

Pregnancy Changes the Massage

Positioning, pressure and areas of focus are adapted around pregnancy rather than expecting you to fit into a standard massage routine.

SUPPORT THROUGH PREGNANCY

Why Choose Prenatal Massage?

Pregnancy can change how your body feels from week to week. Prenatal Massage gives you a session designed around those changing comfort needs.

Many clients simply want an opportunity to slow down, relax and receive focused attention to muscles working differently during pregnancy.

Your session can be adjusted according to the areas carrying the most muscular tension that day.

IMPORTANT

Tell Us About Your Pregnancy

Before your massage, tell your therapist about pregnancy-related complications, activity restrictions or instructions from your prenatal healthcare provider. If your pregnancy is considered high-risk or you have medical concerns, speak with your obstetric provider or midwife before scheduling massage.

LOWER BACK

Back Tension

Focused massage can be directed toward muscles of the back that may feel increasingly tight as pregnancy progresses.

HIPS

Hip & Pelvic-Area Muscles

Massage may focus on surrounding muscular areas that are carrying additional tension.

SHOULDERS

Neck & Shoulder Tension

Gentle focused work can be included for the neck, upper back and shoulders when those areas feel tight.

LEGS

Tired Legs

Your session can include comfortable massage techniques for muscles of the legs.

RELAXATION

Time to Slow Down

Prenatal Massage can provide dedicated time to relax in a comfortable, supportive setting.

SELF-CARE

A Pregnancy Wellness Routine

Prenatal Massage can be scheduled as occasional relaxation or incorporated into your self-care routine.

DESIGNED AROUND PREGNANCY

How Prenatal Massage Is Adapted

The biggest difference is not simply pressure. It is how the entire massage is adjusted around comfort, positioning and pregnancy.

01

Comfortable Positioning

Your therapist selects positioning intended to keep you comfortable throughout the session.

02

Added Support

Pillows and bolsters may be placed where additional support helps you relax more comfortably.

03

Adapted Pressure

Massage pressure and techniques are modified according to pregnancy, sensitivity and comfort.

04

Personalized Focus

The areas receiving the most attention can change depending on how your body feels that day.

YOUR COMFORT COMES FIRST

Tell Us Whenever Something Needs to Change

Pregnancy can make a comfortable position become uncomfortable quickly. Tell your therapist whenever you need to shift, add support or change pressure.
